It doesn't matter how badly we want DE or how amazing they are together. This show will never give us what we want.

Just a warning: I’m not going to sugar-coat anything so if you don’t want to see pessimism (I’d call it reality) I suggest you stop reading. I will never give up on Damon&Elena, but I have given up on the writers in regards to (at the very least) the triangle storyline.

This is how they do things on this show: They give us a whole bunch of SE and when we get sick of it and are about to give up, they give us ONE super-amazing DE moment and we get all happy and excited about it, and that’s all we get and it’s back to SE SE SE. And we’re hopeful idiots thinking that this is somehow going to change in the future. Elena chose Stefan as a human? Okay, I mean, not only is that boring and repetitive that she’s doing this for the 100th time - “caring” about Damon but choosing Stefan (separate rant for thathere), but that make this entire season a complete fucking waste. Like it may as well have not happened. The only difference between her convo with Damon in 2x01 and now was at least she admitted this is a “right now” and not an “always” thing. But this is how this show makes us go back to it week after week. They give us a glimpse of hope for these two characters so we keep watching, but at the end they just end up sending her back to Stefan.

And for those of you who are excited about Elena remembering Damon’s compulsions, know that it was confirmed by JP herself that SE are getting back together next season. This means Elena remembers everything and still chooses to be with Stefan. And okay, she may have some slight confusion because of what she knows, but that has always been there anyway. It won’t actually interfere with her decision to be with Stefan just like it didn’t this season. Elena is never going to stop loving Stefan because for as long as Ms. Julie “Stefan’s #1 fangirl” Plec is writing this show, it’s going to be Stefan. I mean, is not strange to you how everyone we meet on this show is so head over heels for this character?

Almost every DE fan I know was so sure that she was going to pick Damon in this finale. I for one had no such expectations given how many times this show has screwed over DE fans, but at the very least I thought they wouldn’t have her running back to Stefan either. DE endgame you say? DE aren’t even going to be given a fair chance to be a normal couple without Elena still wanting Stefan, let alone them being endgame. I’m sorry if this is all too negative, but have we not learned our lesson with this show yet?
