When Will The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Start?

For those of you accustomed to getting your thrills, chills, and (blood) spills on Thursday nights at 8 p.m., we have good news for you: The Vampire Diaries will stay in its same timeslot when it comes back in the fall. But you’ll have to wait a little longer than normal, because The CW is pushing their shows’ return to October.
The CW announced its new lineup today at the Upfronts, and though they didn’t have exact dates for when their new and returning series will debut, CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz, did say, “One of our biggest priorities this year at The CW was adding more original programming, and we’ve added 50 original hours to our schedule in 2012. With dynamic new dramas for the fall and midseason, and our first-ever summer schedule leading into our October fall launch, this is poised to be a transformative season for The CW.”
There are lots of new shows to be excited about, but because one of those transformations included axing TVD’s sister show, The Secret Circle, we’re still a little peeved at Pedowitz. And for those of you concerned about waiting until October to see The Vampire Diaries crew again, at least a later start date will mean fewer long hiatuses in the middle of the season.
